Alternative, Holistic or Complimentary Medicine

Alternative, Holistic or Complimentary Medicine

The Popularity of Massage and other Alternative Medicine has steadily increased.  More than 50% of all Americans used some form of Alternative therapy, there is an estimated 629 million visits to Alternative practitioners compared with 386 million visits to primary care Physicians.
Massage  known as Alternative Medicine, Holistic Medicine and or Complementary Medicine.
Alternative Medicine, a term that implies using services other than those usually accepted by allopathic physicians. Many people seek the use of alternative practices to go along with the services of conventional physicians.
Complimentary Medicine, the term which implies that the alternative practices can work together with more conventional medicine for the benefit of clients, and seems to have taken the place of alternative medicine along with the change in attitude of "becoming more socially acceptable" and  "more accepted by the medical community."
Holistic means to look at the whole picture. All things affecting the health of the individual including spiritual, physical, mental, emotional, social and environmental. The Holistic approach includes the participation of the client where diet , imagery, positive thinking and meditation all help in the healing process.
It never seems to amaze me the difference when integrating massage into a persons life the benefits  and the overall healthy feeling that comes with massage. I see many clients experience a more lifting energetic, yet at the same time a more relaxed attitude towards everyday life.
I experience proof of the effects of massage just by seeing the difference I have made for that person who came to me looking for one thing or another be it pain relief or finding a relaxed state of being and knowing I made that difference is one of the most rewarding feelings I know.

Benefits of Massage

The benefits of a professional massage have been known in many cultures around the world, for generations. While many different massage techniques exist and are designed to target specific areas, and conditions, there are mutual benefits from every technique. Regular massages promote a natural healing process for various ailments, as well as for all around wellness.

When one realizes the absolute benefits to getting a regular professional massage, they may come to understand how beneficial a regular massage program can be, especially one that is specifically designed for each and every person.

·         Posture Improvement

It is important to understand that even though massage should not be used as a chiropractic diagnosis replacement, posture can naturally be improved when the muscles around the spine become more supple, as well as flexible. Naturally when the muscles around the spine improve, it is very beneficial to the spine as well. An improved posture also aids in reducing stress throughout the body, as well as aids in improved breathing.

·         Improved Breathing

Being able to breathe deeply, is crucial in ensuring oxygen circulates around the body.  This encourages healing, as well as growth. Any decrease in oxygen circulation can result in tension aches and pains, headaches, as well as random muscle pain. This can result in significant issues if let over a period of time. When the oxygen intake is enhanced, it naturally promotes the release of toxins and negative energy.

·         Circulation Improvement

Regular massage treatment improves both blood and lymph circulation. This assists in maximizing energy, and gaining body strength. During the colder months, circulation and metabolisms may be slower, so massage can assist removing toxins in the blood, whilst encouraging better circulation. This also helps with muscle recovery, growth, and also promotes the natural healing process.

·         Improves Skin Tone and Health

By the use of high-quality natural creams and oils, I can improve the tone and health of your skin. This can be extremely apparent even after just a few massage sessions. The skin cells are moisturized, revitalized, and replenished naturally.

·         Promotes and Increases Joint Flexibility

When joints are subjected to repetitive stress, or are overused, growth can be stunted resulting in issues later on.  Regular massage sessions can relieve stored tension as well encourage flexibility in the joints.

Some may not realize that there are also emotional, and psychological benefits as well.

·         Anxiety Reduction

A professional, and successful massage is a natural deep relaxant, which can significantly reduce anxiety. Normally, anxiety is stored in some of the key areas in the body; shoulders, abdomen, neck, and lower back. Relieving these areas of tension, the mind 'lets go' of anxiety, and the sufferer can experience a light, and almost freeing sensation.

·         Increases Peace of Mind

Once you are feeling relaxed, peace of mind is the natural result. A professional massage gives you a sense of calm, well-being, and an all around good feeling.

·         Enhances a Calm Mind

A professional massage encourages a calm mind.  A calm mind in turn, creates an avenue for creativity and it is during these times that minds are more productive in creative thinking, reducing stressful thoughts, focused on the positive and being able to focus. By relaxing the entire body, naturally the mind becomes much calmer.

·         Increased Self-Awareness

It is an unfortunate fact, that the mind-body connection can be easily overlooked in this fast-paced society. It seems that from the minute we wake up, until the moment we go to bed, we are in 'mind-only' mode.We are focused on finances, family, work, and various other things. Re-establishing the connection with the body, you will experience a greater ease in movement, an enhanced feeling of well-being, and be more centered.

·         Increase in Mental Alertness

I have discussed that a professional massage can take you to a deep relaxed state, however, this is also a state of heightened mental alertness. A relaxed and calm mind is more acutely aware while in this state, and more capable of solving tough issues.

Think of a regular professional massage as part of your health improvement plan. I am thoroughly trained in various massage techniques, and able to devise an individual massage program just for you. You can see even more information on my website

How Can A Professional Massage Benefit You?

Most people enjoy a good massage, but few probably realize how much it can actually benefit their well-being.  We have all suffered muscle soreness, woken up with a stiff neck, and have pain in areas we can't reach ourselves.  Not everyone has a spouse to help rub away those painful spots, and then again, not everyone knows how to massage to achieve the best possible benefits.  This is when you need a good massagetherapist Hesperia

A professionally trained massage therapist is trained to identify which areas are in need of the most work, and has the skills to improve, and heal the areas by using different techniques, and methods.  An experienced and professional massage therapist will usually work on a client for at least 60 minutes to ensure all necessary areas are treated.  This amount of time is also required to prepare the body for the treatment, by using techniques to relax the muscles and affected areas.

Studies in recent years have shown that the more times you can visit a professional massage therapist, the better you will feel.  Many may not realize that not only can a professional massage take away stress from daily life, but can also assist in the healing of sports injuries such as strained hamstrings in half the time.  Sleep problems, digestion improvement, and even chronic headaches will all improve when you visit a professional therapist, and enter in to a wellness program.

Massage being used as a healing technique, has in fact, been around for thousands of years, and a part of many cultures.  Physical touch is well known as a natural human reaction when dealing with pain, and stress.  We have all heard that hugging can increase the hemoglobin which carries oxygen throughout the body, as well as reducing stress, depression, and boosting the immune system.  If a simple hug can do so much, imagine what a professional massage can do!

There is now scientific proof that the benefits of a professional massage can range from assisting to treat chronic diseases, injuries, and the stress related to living in our fast paced society.  A professional massage also benefits clients on a physiological level, as well as psychological.  Massage should not be seen as a just luxury, but as a necessary part of your own wellness, and health program.

Experts have estimated that between 80% and 90% of disease is stress-related.  By entering in to a wellness program with a qualified, professional, and experienced massage therapist, you can reduce your own risk rate dramatically!  The physical changes that a professional massage can make to your body, can have a very positive effect in various areas of a client's life.  Apart from learning to relax, massage also lowers blood pressure, increases circulation, helps clients sleep better, reduces fatigue, and gives you more energy to handle the stress of daily life.

Blue Pacific Massage and Body Works, Hesperia, California, is a professional massage therapy business, dedicated to assisting clients with their wellness program.  Owner/operator, Terree Nelson, is qualified, trained, and experienced in a variety of different massage therapy techniques.  Working with each client's individual needs, Terree assures each client will leave feeling the positive effects of their treatment.

If you are in need of a good massage from a true professional, wanting to improve your own wellness program, or just want a great massage, Call or Text (760) 680 7910 Terree at Blue Pacific Massage and Body Works today.

Treat Those Pesky Trigger Points With Massage

 Trigger Points

Trigger points are small, taught muscle's that feel like hard lumps or knots. Trigger points
are usually found in predictable places in the muscle and many times cause predictable
patterns of referred pain.

Trigger points often intense pain when pressed, and sometimes referred pain is felt, according to the characteristic pattern for that trigger point.

A trigger point usually develops in the middle of a muscle. But since muscles are made up of
many fibers, which can have different orientations, a trigger point can be found in multiple
places within a single muscle.

Trigger points are usually caused from a variety of reasons, most notably excessive use of the muscles, direct trauma, repetitive motion and prolonged muscle contractions.

Trigger points can be treated with Massage Therapy.

Massaging Trigger Points using the thumb, elbow, knuckles, or knees with short, slow strokes in one direction, applying deep pressure will deactivate the trigger point which in turn relieves the knotted muscle.

Massage therapy as body maintenance for overall health and wellness, taking care of the issues before they can cause more negative effects!!

Be sure and call or text Blue Pacific Massage & Body Works at
760 680 7910 and get rid of those Pesky Trigger Points….

Massage For Tension Headaches

Are Tension Headaches Affecting Your Life?

We've all experienced that horrible headache, caused by stress and tension. They can stop us from being able to focus properly, can inhibit our performance at work, as well as stop any chance to relax. This in turn stops the body from being able to recharge the batteries, and the cycle continues. Seeking the assistance of a qualified, professional massage therapist just may be the answer!

A lot of people have heard the term “tension headache,” but may not exactly understand what it is. Basically, a tension headache is caused by stress, and exacerbated by dehydration. Pain seems to occur at the top, and/or sides of the head, and sometimes can also include pain behind the eyes, and stiff neck and shoulders. These can go on for days on end if steps aren't taken to fix the issue.

Blue Pacific Massage & Body Works is a professional massage therapy business, located in Hesperia, California. Owner/operator Terree Nelson, is highly qualified and experienced in a large variety of massage therapy methods, and techniques. Tension headaches often originate from a painful neck and shoulders. These are caused by stress, and even a bad posture, which can spread up to the muscles around the skull. Not many people are actually aware that there are muscles around the skull.

When we are experiencing this kind of headache, many people unknowingly add to it by clenching their jaw.  We can tend to do this in our sleep, without even realizing it.  This is also not good for the teeth. This tightens the muscles around the skull even further, resulting in constant headaches. So now we know what causes these headaches, how can Blue Pacific Massage & Body Works help?

Terree can effectively ease and soften the muscles around the sides of the head, temples, and where the neck meets the skull. Research has shown that chronic tension headaches can indeed be treated efficiently by a professional massage therapist.  An experienced massage therapist from Blue Pacific Massage & Body Works can also advise on exercises you can do yourself at home, or in the office, to help ease the muscle tension.

If you are one of the many sufferers of tension headaches, get a massage for tension headaches just Call or Text 760 680 7910 for your appointment!!

Shoulder & Neck Pain

Why Do Your Shoulders and Neck Hurt?

A lot of people suffer from aching shoulders, and a stiff neck.  It is not always caused by sleeping the wrong way, it is usually caused from stress. This in turn can result in the sufferer suffering from very painful and debilitating headaches. The majority of sufferers, can trace their problem back to stress, and poor working posture. Seeking the assistance of a professional massage therapist Hesperia, can put you on the track to a more stress free, and pain free environment.

Our bodies were not designed to sit in one position for hours on end, every day. Hunched over a computer in the office, is not healthy for the body in anyway, however, there are some steps you can take that will help reduce the consequences of having to do so.

Moving around, stretching, and getting the blood flowing, is something that should be being done by everyone who has to sit at a desk, in front of a computer for hours. When your body is being forced to sit in one position for hours on end, with no break, it will of course start to complain. We may not notice it as much while at work, because our focus is elsewhere, but those who have sat on a plane for many hours, understand completely how uncomfortable it can get, and the consequences of having to do so.

It is also important to realize here, that even though moving around, stretching, and doing certain exercises will certainly help, we have to also learn new habits.  Our bodies unfortunately, can be 'set' in a cycle of dysfunction that can create further complications such as Muscle Memory Disfunction.  We can quite easily fall back in to bad habits with posture. A professional massage therapist at Blue Pacific Massage and Body Works, can not only help ease the stiff and sore muscles in the neck, shoulders, and head, but show you some techniques on how to improve your posture.

It does take time to get used to changing the way you react to stress, as well as remembering to perform simple exercises to help, but with an individualized wellness program designed specifically for you, Terree can help you reduce, and even avoid causing these painful problems to yourself!

If you are an office worker, slumped over a desk and computer for hours on end, call or text Terree at BluePacific Massage and Body Works  (760) 680 7910.

Massage and Breathing

Breathing Can Impact Stressed Muscles
Most of us have experienced stressed-out shoulders, and tension related pain. These can often result in almost crippling tension headaches. A lot of people may not also realize that the way you breathe can have a large impact on stress and stress related pain as well. Seeking the services of a professional massage therapist, can not only help alleviate these symptoms, but teach you how to help yourself.

To understand how breathing can affect tension, it is important to understand what role breathing actually plays in our body, apart from the obvious need of oxygen. Breathing can also affect the mobility of muscles, and is also intertwined with our body's stress levels, and emotional responses. An anxiety attack is a perfect example of how extreme tension combined with an emotional response, can affect our breathing. Short, sharp breaths, (hyperventilating) can restrict the distribution of necessary oxygen throughout the body.  Lack of oxygen to the body can then result in symptoms such as numbness and tingling in arms and legs, dizziness, and even hysteria in extreme cases. This can result in even more stress, and the cycle continues.

There have been 3 different responses acknowledged, when someone is faced with a stressful situation, and these are 'fight, flight, or freeze.'  The one we are interested in here, is 'freeze.' Basically we 'freeze' when faced with a situation that causes us to panic yet, we freeze with fear, which affects the way we breathe. For those of us who are terrified of spiders, or snakes, we are all to familiar with the 'freeze' affect when faced with one of these creatures. It is also becoming all too common in the workplace.

When we 'freeze,' our breathing becomes very shallow, and our ribs barely move at all. Muscles become extremely tense, which can result in pain. If this occurs frequently, especially in work situations, our muscles can become semi-permanently locked in the same pattern, which leads to pain and dysfunction. Sore, tight, frozen shoulders, stiff necks, sore backs, and a tight chest are most of the symptoms.

Blue Pacific Massage & Body Works can not only work with you and teach you how to control this 'freeze' breathing, but to acknowledge the signs when they appear, and use breathing techniques to control the situation. They can also massage out the tension in those affected areas, freeing up the muscles and easing the pain.

Breathing also plays an important part in massage . While having your massage try to focus on your breathing, slow deep and even, allow yourself to experience all those relaxing sensations. When doing deep tissue massage you want to work with your massage therapist on your breathing techniques. Most professional massage therapist will explain to you how they want you to breath while performing certain massage techniques as this can play a huge role in the releasing of tension in those taut muscles.

Injured Or Not Massage Benefits You

Massage Therapy Is Not Just For Injured

Some people may only consider Massage Therapy, if they're injured, stressed, or are having other muscular issues. The truth is, a good regular massage therapy plan shouldn't just be considered by those trying to recuperate from an injury, or trying to gain back mobility.

Usually, those injured will rely on traditional medicines and treatments first.  When things still aren't progressing properly, they tend to seek out the assistance of a professional massage therapist such as Blue Pacific Massage and Body Works.

Even though massage therapy is a gentle, guided exercise to strengthen a tired body, as well as relieve stress, it is also a great way to just rejuvenate, to keep the body, and mind relaxed in the most optimal way possible. Having a regular massage and wellness routine helps keep you centered, the body and mind relaxed and your mobility up to par which gives us that all around “good” feeling that we all crave so much.

Even those who don't feel that they need a massage will benefit from the relaxing touch of a professional who is highly qualified, most professional massage therapists are also trained in a number of different massage techniques and can discern what areas need the most work and which massage technique to use so as to benefit you the most. We all have knots that need to be worked out, and sometimes a professional therapy session, with a qualified therapist which you will find at Blue Pacific Massage & Body Works in Hesperia Ca, is the only way.

How many often ask a friend, or partner to massage their neck, or back? Even though it feels great, unless the person performing the massage is qualified, and has an understanding of anatomy and physiology, they may not be getting into the root of the problem, or even alleviating it as much as possible.

Trained massage therapists, have to become certified, and take many courses in order to be qualified. They also are required to spend a certain amount of hours performing the actual massage with a licensed massage therapist's guidance before they become certified. The human body is sensitive and even fragile in some areas, so it is always a plus if you seek out a professional massage therapist especially if your issues are injury related.

Massage & Myofascial Release Techniques

Myofascial Release...Stretching of the fascia.

Understanding what Myofascial Release is and why or how it works, you need to understand a little about fascia. Fascia is a thin tissue that covers all the organs of the body, Fascia covers every muscle and every fiber of and within each muscle. All muscle stretching then, is actually stretching of the myofascial unit (the fascia and the muscle), muscle and fascia cannot be separated.
When muscle fibers are injured, the fibers and the fascia which surrounds it become tense or short and tight. This uneven stress can be felt throughout the fascia to other parts of the body, which can cause pain and a variety of other symptoms in other areas you often wouldn't expect. Myofascial Release treats these symptoms by releasing the tension or tightness of the injured fascia.
Direct Myofascial Release done through Deep Tissue work engages the myofascial tissues restrictive barrier or tension. Using a constant force on the tissue until release occurs. This can be done using knuckles, elbows, forearms, knees or other tools to slowly stretch the tension or restricted fascia. Direct myofascial release attempts to relieve the tension by stretching the fascia, or bringing movement to the adhesive tissues. Moving slowly through the layers of the fascia until reaching the deep tissues.
The indirect Myofascial Release is done with a gentle touch and stretch, with just a small amount of pressure, which helps the fascia to relax and release itself.
There are a lot of reasons why muscles, tendons and cartilage need to be stretched.
  •      Lengthens muscle fibers that have contracted from disuse or excessive use
  •          Increases flexibility
  •      Restores muscle balance
  •      Restore muscle flexibility after injury
  •     Assists in removal of natural wastes like lactic acid from muscles
  •     Warms the muscles

The benefits extend far beyond the muscles though.
  •  Improve posture
  •  Improves mental focus and concentration
  • Stimulate the digestive organs
  • Energize the body
  • Reduce inflammations in joints
  •  Relieve stress and tension

This massage technique is often integrated into your massage at Blue Pacific Massage & Body Works be it Direct Myofascial Release or Indirect Myofascial Release. I always encourage all my clients to do Stretches through out their daily activities and in between massage appointments, as stretching really is helpful in relieving tension.

Listed here are some basic stretches for the upper body.

Massage is a healing art which requires a combination of academic knowledge along with clinical skills, sensitivity, awareness and manual dexterity. Nearly everyone has the natural feel for giving a massage, yet it takes a genuine desire to help others, with a commitment to the time, energy, and focus necessary for being a good solid Massage Therapist.

All the information Professional Massage Therapists learn in the Anatomy and Physiology course to become a licensed Massage Therapist help to better understand how the bones, muscles and other systems of the body work and integrate with each other. It is an important course and when properly applied to massage therapy it can greatly increase the effectiveness of a massage.

They also are required to spend a certain amount of hours performing the actual massage with a licensed massage therapist's guidance before they become certified.
