Injured Or Not Massage Benefits You

Massage Therapy Is Not Just For Injured

Some people may only consider Massage Therapy, if they're injured, stressed, or are having other muscular issues. The truth is, a good regular massage therapy plan shouldn't just be considered by those trying to recuperate from an injury, or trying to gain back mobility.

Usually, those injured will rely on traditional medicines and treatments first.  When things still aren't progressing properly, they tend to seek out the assistance of a professional massage therapist such as Blue Pacific Massage and Body Works.

Even though massage therapy is a gentle, guided exercise to strengthen a tired body, as well as relieve stress, it is also a great way to just rejuvenate, to keep the body, and mind relaxed in the most optimal way possible. Having a regular massage and wellness routine helps keep you centered, the body and mind relaxed and your mobility up to par which gives us that all around “good” feeling that we all crave so much.

Even those who don't feel that they need a massage will benefit from the relaxing touch of a professional who is highly qualified, most professional massage therapists are also trained in a number of different massage techniques and can discern what areas need the most work and which massage technique to use so as to benefit you the most. We all have knots that need to be worked out, and sometimes a professional therapy session, with a qualified therapist which you will find at Blue Pacific Massage & Body Works in Hesperia Ca, is the only way.

How many often ask a friend, or partner to massage their neck, or back? Even though it feels great, unless the person performing the massage is qualified, and has an understanding of anatomy and physiology, they may not be getting into the root of the problem, or even alleviating it as much as possible.

Trained massage therapists, have to become certified, and take many courses in order to be qualified. They also are required to spend a certain amount of hours performing the actual massage with a licensed massage therapist's guidance before they become certified. The human body is sensitive and even fragile in some areas, so it is always a plus if you seek out a professional massage therapist especially if your issues are injury related.

Massage & Myofascial Release Techniques

Myofascial Release...Stretching of the fascia.

Understanding what Myofascial Release is and why or how it works, you need to understand a little about fascia. Fascia is a thin tissue that covers all the organs of the body, Fascia covers every muscle and every fiber of and within each muscle. All muscle stretching then, is actually stretching of the myofascial unit (the fascia and the muscle), muscle and fascia cannot be separated.
When muscle fibers are injured, the fibers and the fascia which surrounds it become tense or short and tight. This uneven stress can be felt throughout the fascia to other parts of the body, which can cause pain and a variety of other symptoms in other areas you often wouldn't expect. Myofascial Release treats these symptoms by releasing the tension or tightness of the injured fascia.
Direct Myofascial Release done through Deep Tissue work engages the myofascial tissues restrictive barrier or tension. Using a constant force on the tissue until release occurs. This can be done using knuckles, elbows, forearms, knees or other tools to slowly stretch the tension or restricted fascia. Direct myofascial release attempts to relieve the tension by stretching the fascia, or bringing movement to the adhesive tissues. Moving slowly through the layers of the fascia until reaching the deep tissues.
The indirect Myofascial Release is done with a gentle touch and stretch, with just a small amount of pressure, which helps the fascia to relax and release itself.
There are a lot of reasons why muscles, tendons and cartilage need to be stretched.
  •      Lengthens muscle fibers that have contracted from disuse or excessive use
  •          Increases flexibility
  •      Restores muscle balance
  •      Restore muscle flexibility after injury
  •     Assists in removal of natural wastes like lactic acid from muscles
  •     Warms the muscles

The benefits extend far beyond the muscles though.
  •  Improve posture
  •  Improves mental focus and concentration
  • Stimulate the digestive organs
  • Energize the body
  • Reduce inflammations in joints
  •  Relieve stress and tension

This massage technique is often integrated into your massage at Blue Pacific Massage & Body Works be it Direct Myofascial Release or Indirect Myofascial Release. I always encourage all my clients to do Stretches through out their daily activities and in between massage appointments, as stretching really is helpful in relieving tension.

Massage and Healing

Massage is a healing art which requires a combination of academic knowledge along with clinical skills, sensitivity, awareness and manual dexterity. Nearly everyone has the natural feel for giving a massage, yet it takes a genuine desire to help others, with a commitment to the time, energy, and focus necessary for being a good solid Massage Therapist.

All the information Professional Massage Therapists learn in the Anatomy and Physiology course to become a licensed Massage Therapist help to better understand how the bones, muscles and other systems of the body work and integrate with each other. It is an important course and when properly applied to massage therapy it can greatly increase the effectiveness of a massage.

Getting a massage from a licensed Massage Therapist who can tell you about the muscle tensions they've just worked on, why there might be tension there, and what exercises would help to address the buildup of this tension is more beneficial to you the client.Trained massage therapists, have to become certified, and take many courses in order to be qualified. They also are required to spend a certain amount of hours performing the actual massage with a licensed massage therapist's guidance before they become certified.

The field of massage therapy is growing rapidly in response to the public’s expanding interest in forms of healthcare that promote well-being and a higher quality of life.
