Be sure and speak up if it's too much pressure or you could be hurting for days!!

Sometimes the pressure feels so good and you take it because you just want the stress to go away!!!

Your mind accepts what your body really shouldn't be handling so the next 2 or 3 days you hurt from too much pressure so you need to go have another massage only this time accept just enough pressure the "hurts so good" kind of pressure…… and don’t stop until your mind tells you to.... This could be 30 minutes to 2 hours depending on you!!

How much massage therapy needed will greatly depend on the client's condition, with an individually devised massage program for your particular condition, and even pain level, I can greatly assist in reducing some of the symptoms, and have you feeling much better.

Hydrotherapy

Hydrotherapy…..Watsu Massage

Hydrotherapy is the use of water to revitalize, maintain, and restore health. The medicinal use of water would be Hydrotherapy.  This could be the use of hot tubs, cold water treatments, ice packs, vapors, saunas, mineral springs, hot springs, sitz baths, wet towel applications, water exercises, water massage and the application of cold and hot water compresses,

The physiological basis to hydrotherapy. Cold which is stimulating, and causes superficial blood vessels to constrict, shunting the blood to internal organs and hot which is relaxing which causes blood vessels to dilate. Alternating hot can cold water also improves elimination, decreases inflammation, and stimulates circulation.

Watsu Massage is a form of shiatsu massage that takes place in water. Developed by Harold Dull. It consists of shiatsu type stretches done in a warm pool of water. The massage therapist supports the body and using a rocking motion moves the body through the water. The body stays in continual movement with each move flowing into the next.

Hydrotherapy increases blood circulation, including circulation of the immune system’s white blood cells. Hydrotherapy also increases the body’s production of endogenous opioid peptides, particularly endorphins. Enhanced circulation and increased endorphins strengthen the immune system, reduce inflammation, heal injured tissue, improve well-being and energize the body.

Hydrotherapy also supplies fresh nutrients and oxygen to injured tissue and helps with the removal of waste products. In injuries alternate applications of heat and cold accelerate healing by improving blood vessel integrity and muscle tone. Heat causes blood to come to the surface where as cold causes blood to constrict and drives blood inward.

Water also has a soothing, calming, and relaxing effect on people, whether in a bath, shower, spray, or compress.

Clients with Arthritis, cerebral palsy, chronic back pain, fibromyalgia, headaches, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's, postoperative pain, spinal cord injury, stroke, traumatic brain injury can benefit from Watsu Massage.

We must also be aware of any contraindications associated with hydrotherapy and it is always best to check with your massage therapist for any conditions which may apply to you.
