Understanding Myofascial Release

Understanding Myofascial Release: A Path to Pain Relief and Improved Mobility

Chronic pain, stiffness, and limited movement can significantly impact our quality of life. While many factors contribute to these issues, one often-overlooked culprit is myofascial restriction. If you've been searching for a way to address persistent aches and regain your physical freedom, understanding Myofascial Release (MFR) might be the key.

What is Fascia? The Body's Hidden Web

Imagine a body-wide, three-dimensional web that surrounds every muscle, bone, organ, nerve, and blood vessel. This intricate connective tissue is called fascia. It's strong yet flexible, providing support, protection, and facilitating smooth movement throughout your body. Healthy fascia is relaxed and wavy, allowing muscles to slide and glide effortlessly.

When Fascia Becomes a Problem

However, due to various factors like physical trauma, inflammation, repetitive strain, poor posture, or even emotional stress, fascia can become tight, restricted, and solidified. When this happens, it's like a straitjacket around your muscles and other structures. These restrictions, often called "trigger points" or "adhesions," can exert tremendous pressure, sometimes up to 2,000 pounds per square inch, on pain-sensitive structures.

Unlike muscle pain, which can often be localized, myofascial pain can be widespread and difficult to pinpoint. It might manifest as:

  • Chronic headaches or migraines

  • Neck and back pain

  • Sciatica

  • Fibromyalgia

  • Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) dysfunction

  • Carpal tunnel syndrome

  • Limited range of motion in joints

  • Tingling, numbness, or weakness

The Principles of Myofascial Release

Myofascial Release is a gentle, hands-on therapeutic approach that focuses on releasing these fascial restrictions. Unlike traditional massage, which often targets muscles, MFR specifically addresses the fascia. The core principles include:

  1. Sustained Pressure: Therapists apply sustained, gentle pressure to areas of fascial restriction for an extended period, typically 90-120 seconds or even longer. This sustained pressure allows the fascia to slowly "melt" and lengthen, rather than forcing it.

  2. No Oils or Lotions: MFR is performed directly on the skin without oils or lotions. This allows the therapist to maintain traction and feel the subtle fascial restrictions, guiding their hands as the tissue releases.

  3. Client Feedback: The therapist constantly monitors the client's responses, feeling the subtle changes in the tissue and adapting their approach based on feedback. The goal is to work with the body's natural healing process.

What to Expect During an MFR Session

A typical MFR session begins with an assessment where the therapist observes your posture and movement patterns to identify areas of restriction. During the treatment, you'll lie comfortably while the therapist applies gentle, sustained pressure. You might feel a stretching sensation, warmth, or a dull ache as the tissue releases. It's important to communicate with your therapist about any sensations you experience.

One of the unique aspects of MFR is that the releases can sometimes occur in areas distant from where the therapist is working, due to the interconnected nature of the fascial web.

The Benefits of Myofascial Release

Many individuals report significant benefits from Myofascial Release, including:

  • Reduced Pain: Alleviating pressure on nerves and muscles can lead to substantial pain reduction.

  • Improved Mobility and Flexibility: Releasing fascial restrictions allows for a greater range of motion in joints and muscles.

  • Better Posture: As the body rebalances, posture can improve naturally

  • Stress Reduction: The gentle, sustained nature of MFR can be very relaxing and help reduce overall stress.

  • Enhanced Athletic Performance: Athletes often use MFR to prevent injuries and improve recovery.

  • Increased Body Awareness: Clients often become more attuned to their body's signals and learn to identify tension patterns.

Is Myofascial Release Right for You?

If you've been struggling with chronic pain, stiffness, or limited movement and haven't found lasting relief through other treatments, Myofascial Release might be a valuable option to explore. It's a holistic approach that recognizes the body's interconnectedness and aims to address the root cause of discomfort, rather than just treating symptoms.

Consult with a qualified and experienced Myofascial Release therapist to see how this gentle yet powerful therapy can help you unlock your body's natural healing potential and live a more comfortable, active life.

How Massage Helps Ease Anxiety

The Calming Power of Touch

🌿 The Calming Power of Touch: How Massage Helps Ease Anxiety

Blue Pacific Massage & Body Works

In today’s fast-paced world, anxiety has become a common companion for many. Whether it’s work stress, personal challenges, or simply the overwhelm of daily life, finding ways to calm the mind and body is essential. One powerful, natural method? Massage therapy.

🧠 How Massage Affects the Mind and Body

Massage isn’t just about relaxation — it’s a therapeutic tool that works on both physical and emotional levels. When you receive a massage, your body begins to lower cortisol, the stress hormone, and increase serotonin and dopamine, the “feel-good” chemicals that help regulate mood.

This shift in brain chemistry can:

  • Reduce feelings of anxiety and depression
  • Improve sleep quality
  • Enhance emotional resilience
  • Promote a sense of calm and clarity

💆‍♀️ Physical Relief That Supports Mental Wellness

Anxiety often shows up in the body as muscle tension, especially in the neck, shoulders, and back. Massage helps release these knots, sending signals to the brain that it’s safe to relax. It also slows heart rate and lowers blood pressure, activating the parasympathetic nervous system — your body’s natural “rest and digest” mode.

🌊 A Safe Space to Reconnect

Beyond the science, massage offers something deeply human: comforting touch. It creates a nurturing environment where you can pause, breathe, and reconnect with yourself. For many, it’s like an hourlong hug — a moment of peace in a busy world.

🧘‍♂️ A Complement to Holistic Wellness

While massage isn’t a cure for anxiety disorders, it’s a powerful complement to other forms of care like therapy, exercise, and mindfulness. Regular sessions can help you manage stress more effectively and feel more grounded in your day-to-day life.

The Healing Power of Lymphatic Drainage Massage

In the world of holistic wellness, lymphatic drainage massage is gaining attention for its gentle yet powerful benefits. This specialized technique supports the body's natural detoxification process, reduces swelling, and promotes overall vitality.

 What Is Lymphatic Drainage Massage?

Lymphatic drainage massage is a gentle, rhythmic massage designed to stimulate the flow of lymph fluid throughout the body. The lymphatic system is a crucial part of the immune system, responsible for removing toxins, waste, and excess fluid from tissues.

When the lymphatic system becomes sluggish due to illness, surgery, or lifestyle factors. Fluid can accumulate, leading to swelling, fatigue, and a weakened immune response. This massage technique helps redirect lymph fluid toward functioning lymph nodes, encouraging natural drainage and detoxification.

Key Benefits Here are some of the most notable benefits of lymphatic drainage massage:

- Reduces swelling and fluid retention

- Boosts immune system function

- Promotes relaxation and stress relief

- Improves skin tone and reduces puffiness

- Supports recovery after illness or surgery

What to Expect During a Session

A typical session begins with gentle stimulation of key lymph node areas such as the neck, armpits, and hip area. Using light pressure and slow, sweeping movements, the therapist encourages lymph fluid to move toward these nodes for filtration and elimination.

Sessions are deeply relaxing and often leave clients feeling lighter, clearer, and more energized.

Is It Right for You?

Lymphatic drainage massage is safe for most people, but it's not recommended for those with certain conditions like blood clots, infections, or heart disease. Always consult with a healthcare provider before starting any new treatment.

Inspired by Nature, Guided by Healing

At Blue Pacific Massage & Body Works, we believe in the power of gentle touch and natural healing. Lymphatic drainage massage is a beautiful way to reconnect with your bodies rhythm and restore balance from within

The Many Benefits of Massage

The Many Benefits of Massage

Massage therapy is more than just a luxurious treat; it's a powerful tool for enhancing both physical and mental well-being. From reducing stress to alleviating pain, the benefits are vast and varied. Let's explore some of the incredible ways massage can improve your life.

Stress Reduction and Relaxation

In our fast-paced world, stress can take a heavy toll. Massage is incredibly effective at calming the nervous system, lowering heart rate, and promoting a deep sense of relaxation. It helps to decrease cortisol (the stress hormone) and increase serotonin and dopamine, which are neurotransmitters associated with feelings of well-being. Imagine feeling your worries melt away as skilled hands work their magic.

Pain Relief and Muscle Relaxation

Whether you suffer from chronic back pain, stiff necks, or post-workout soreness, massage can provide significant relief. It helps to release muscle tension, break up adhesions, and improve blood circulation to affected areas. This increased blood flow delivers vital nutrients and oxygen to tissues, aiding in their recovery and reducing inflammation.

Improved Circulation

A good massage stimulates blood flow throughout the body. This is crucial for delivering oxygen and nutrients to your muscles and organs, and for removing metabolic waste products. Enhanced circulation can also contribute to healthier skin and improved energy levels.

Better Sleep

If you struggle with insomnia or restless nights, massage might be your answer. By promoting relaxation and reducing stress, massage can help you fall asleep more easily and experience deeper, more restorative sleep. Many people report feeling more refreshed and energized after incorporating regular massages into their routine.

Enhanced Flexibility and Range of Motion

Regular massage can help keep your joints more fluid and your muscles more pliable. By stretching and manipulating soft tissues, therapists can help improve your flexibility and increase your range of motion, which is particularly beneficial for athletes or individuals recovering from injuries.

Boosted Immunity

Studies suggest that regular massage can even boost your immune system by increasing the activity level of the body's natural killer (NK) cells, which fight off viruses and bacteria. It's a pleasant way to help your body defend itself.

Mental Clarity and Mood Enhancement

Beyond physical benefits, massage can have a profound impact on your mental state. The calming effect can improve focus, reduce anxiety, and lift your spirits. It provides a dedicated time for self-care, allowing you to disconnect from daily distractions and reconnect with yourself.

Alternative, Holistic or Complimentary Medicine

                                  Alternative, Holistic or Complimentary Medicine

The Popularity of Massage and other Alternative Medicine has steadily increased.  More than 50% of all Americans used some form of Alternative therapy, there is an estimated 629 million visits to Alternative practitioners compared with 386 million visits to primary care Physicians.
Massage  known as Alternative Medicine, Holistic Medicine and or Complementary Medicine.
Alternative Medicine, a term that implies using services other than those usually accepted by allopathic physicians. Many people seek the use of alternative practices to go along with the services of conventional physicians.
Complimentary Medicine, the term which implies that the alternative practices can work together with more conventional medicine for the benefit of clients, and seems to have taken the place of alternative medicine along with the change in attitude of "becoming more socially acceptable" and  "more accepted by the medical community."
Holistic means to look at the whole picture. All things affecting the health of the individual including spiritual, physical, mental, emotional, social and environmental. The Holistic approach includes the participation of the client where diet , imagery, positive thinking and meditation all help in the healing process.
It never seems to amaze me the difference when integrating massage into a persons life the benefits  and the overall healthy feeling that comes with massage. I see many clients experience a more lifting energetic, yet at the same time a more relaxed attitude towards everyday life.
I experience proof of the effects of massage just by seeing the difference I have made for that person who came to me looking for one thing or another be it pain relief or finding a relaxed state of being and knowing I made that difference is one of the most rewarding feelings I know.

Get the "Fuzz" out with Massage....

In my most popular massage which is Blue Pacific's Full Body Massage  I integrate stretches as stretching is very important for getting the fuzz out....... What is that you ask well its explained here in this Video . I do a lot of research and through that research I found this video and wanted to share it.

As explained in the video when we are immobile or asleep the interfaces of our muscles grow a type of "fuzz" between the sliding surfaces of your musculature and when we stretch.......that fuzz melts away. The fuzz is a thin layer of fine loose filmy fiber often found between superficial fascia and deep fascia. When you get a build up of this fuzz it causes a stiffness and if we get too much build up of the "fuzz" we get thicker fibers forming which inhibits movement and reduces range of motion. This is one of the reasons I always put some stretches into my massage not only is it getting rid of that fuzz it also feels great !!

The many benefits from stretching the muscles, tendons and cartilage are that the stretch lengthens muscle fibers that have contracted from disuse or excessive use and helps restore muscle flexibility, assists in removal of natural wastes like lactic acid from muscles it also helps increases flexibility, restores muscle balance and warms the muscles. Stretching also relieves stress and tension, reduces inflammation in joints and improves posture.

How to Receive a Massage

I recently filled in at a Chiropractic Office for a massage therapist and on her wall she had this printout on  "How to Receive a Massage" for her clients.  as I was preparing the room for the next massage client it caught my attentionBetween massage sessions I had some time  to read it and really liked it so I asked the Dr. if he would mind if I used it for my website and in my business, Blue Pacific Massage & Body Works. I took a copy home and yes I did do a little editing and added or changed a few things but I wanted to share with anyone interested.....

Because Massage is not a common part of our contemporary cultural experience, many people feel uneasy about receiving their first massage. Here are a few guidelines to help you feel at ease and to gain the greatest benefit from your massage session.

Tell the therapist about areas of your body, which are injured, tense or sore. Also mention any medical conditions, such as high blood pressure, heart problem, chronic headaches, varicose veins or recent surgery. Most therapist have you fill out forms with these questions prior to your first session as they want to be sure there are no contraindications with the massage . With this knowledge they can decide which treatments you would benefit with the most.

The best way to receive a massage is with the body completely unclothed. The therapist is sensitive to the need for privacy and will keep your body covered with a sheet or blanket, except for the area being massaged. It will be uncovered while being massaged and then recovered when not. However if this  is uncomfortable in any way you may choose to wear under garments or a swimsuit, the client may choose to leave on as much clothing as needed for comfort.  This is your massage session and you should be as comfortable as possible.

Conversation can be distracting to you and the therapist. Good massage often requires the therapist to focus her thoughts and energy and concentrate on what your body is telling her and what she needs to do for your body to receive the healing process through the massage. Try to confine your conversation to feedback about the massage. Some people don’t realize that conversation is distracting them from truly feeling the sensations a massage gives. Try just concentrating on those sensations and you might be amazed at the difference it does actually make.

Once you are on the massage table close your eyes and allow yourself to relax as completely as possible. Focus your attention on your breathing, slow deep and even, allow yourself to experience all those relaxing sensations.

When the Massage Therapist’s hands locate areas of pain or tension in the body, try doing this mind exercise …consciously try to relax the area being massaged and as you inhale deeply visualize the breath flowing to the tense area and relaxing it then as you fully exhale visualize the tension leaving the body with the breath.

Allow the Massage Therapist to move your limbs into various positions. Be Limp, like a rag doll, and do not try to help move your arms, legs, or head. The therapist is a trained professional who will not do anything to hurt you. However, feel free to speak up if anything the therapist does is too painful or ticklish, or uncomfortable in any way. Most Massage Therapist ask the client about the pressure they are using if it is to much or not enough and when doing deep tissue they will most likely use a pain scale for you to communicate with them about the pressure being used as a trained professional they know the importance of pain scales and how to much pain can actually hurt you more than help you. So be sure and take the responsibility to inform the therapist of any discomfort so that adjustments can be made to the pressure and/or massage techniques being used.

Very often, as the body releases tension during a massage, the mind will release emotion. If you suddenly feel sad, angry or joyful do not be alarmed, allow yourself to express these feelings by crying or laughing. At the very least, feel free to sigh with the relaxation or hum with pleasure.

Many people fall asleep during a relaxing massage, an indication that the body and mind are releasing stress and tension. The massage therapist will gently wake you when it is time to turn over or end the massage.

Contrary to a common notion in our society about massage, it is an ancient healing art and not a sexual service. The body might become aroused as you experience the pleasure of total relaxation.  However, sexual behavior during the massage is inappropriate and will result in termination of the massage session. A Professional Massage Therapist will not tolerate any sexual advances as this is her profession and looks at Massage as the Healing Art it actually is.

Enjoy your massage and I hope that this experience will be the beginning of a lifelong practice to help you enjoy the benefits of massage for your overall health and well being.

Massage Therapy & Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome

                      Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome

Do you have foot numbness or pain in your feet? You could have a condition known as Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome. Massage Therapy along with Body Work are exceptionally powerful in treating conditions emerging from muscle and connective tissue anomalies. Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome reacts well to massage treatments.

Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome is a painful entrapped nerve condition. The posterior tibial nerve is put under abnormal pressure by the connective tissue shaping the tarsal tunnel, the tendons space at the inside ankle and the lower leg muscles. The structures in that space, like tendons from lower leg muscles. When the muscle tendons passing through the tarsal passage tend to become enlarged and tight, you then get pain from the myofascial trigger points, knots in the muscle, and weight on the back tibial nerve which passes through the tarsal shaft. The pain from Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome is generally found in the ankle, heel, and sole of the foot. Also, there may be a pins and needles feeling in sole of the foot and the toes. More often than not these symptoms are on one side, yet may affect both sides too.

There are numerous ways that massage therapy can help to treat Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome. Neuromuscular Therapy or Trigger Point Therapy to neutralize myofascial trigger points and relieve pressure in the flexor muscles whose tendons pass through the tarsal passage. Myofascial Release works on the muscles and fascia which can improve flexibility. Deep Tissue Massage helps in releasing chronic muscle tension by physically breaking down any adhesions to relieve pain and restore normal movement.

Lower Back Pain

Professional Massage Therapy & Lower Back Pain

Most people have experienced lower back pain.  It is in fact, a very common complaint among many people, especially those who have been employed in physically challenging professions, athletes, as well as accident victims.  Recent studies have found that a professional massage therapy is one of the more effective, and money saving alternatives available, and more beneficial than traditional medical treatments.  Seeking the assistance of a professional massage therapist, Hesperia, CA, is the most beneficial treatment you will find!

Chronic lower back pain is among the top reasons patients see doctors, and alternative medicine practitioners.  Dr. Daniel Cherkin, Director of the Group Health Research Institute states that lower back pain is also a common cause of disability, work absenteeism, and 'presenteeism,' when people are unable to perform well at work.   A study involving 401 patients with ages ranging between 20, to 65 years, found some amazing results when these people were treated with massage therapy.
The study compared the effectiveness of structural massage, versus usual medical care, medication, and physical therapy.  Patients were randomly assigned to receive one of three treatments as follows:

· Group 1 – Full body relaxation massage, often called Swedish massage
· Group 2 – Focused deep tissue massage for pain related tissues, ligaments, and joints.
· Group 3 – Painkillers, anti inflammatory drugs, muscle relaxants, or physical therapy.

Groups 1 & 2 were given a one hour massage, once a week for 10 weeks.

After 10 weeks, the patients were surveyed again in relation to their symptoms, and mobility, and again assessed at 6 months, and again at 12 months.

Groups 1 & 2 reported that their lower back pain had improved significantly, or was completely gone altogether.  It was found that patients who received massage therapy, were twice as likely to see improvements in pain, and function, as those receiving usual medical treatment, as with Group 3.

After 10 weeks, approximately two-thirds of groups 1 & 2, had made substantial improvement as opposed to about one-third of those in the usual care group.   These results quite literally speak for themselves.

Even though studies in the past have somewhat concentrated on the benefits of deep tissue massage, this study has also proven that relaxation massage, also has incredible benefits.  There are two main reasons for this, relaxation massage is more widely available, and more affordable than a lot of traditional medical treatments, and medications.

If you are suffering with lower back pain, and want easily accessible, and affordable assistance, speak to Terree a Certified Massage Therapist of Blue Pacific Massage and Body Works.

Terree is a fully qualified, trained professional in a wide variety of professional massage techniques.

Healing with Massage

Before Treatment

After Treatment

My very first client before I started Blue Pacific Massage & Body Works,  had a chronic injury from when she was young. She had been in  a car accident that affected the scapula and shoulder area. This person is someone I have known for most of my life and I never knew she had been in pain so long and the first time I went to do a massage for her I saw how off her scapula area was and I just said to her OMG I never realized and I can't believe this is so out of whack, when she was standing in front of me I could see how one side was so off it looked twice the size of the other and when she was laying prone (face down) on the table I could see how the one side was about 2 inches higher than the other, I was not sure how I was going to do this. I was still in school and she was letting me practice my massage on her. I was very determined to help her and make it right. I started off with just a full body massage to assess what I needed to do for her and as I progressed with the massage I could feel with my hands what areas I needed to work on most. I spent a lot of time on the upper back and shoulders to get her relaxed I then continued with the lower back and then the whole back then onto the arms and hands where I also found areas that needed attention, I continued with the massage, the legs and feet and no surprise here she had issues in these areas also yet not visible like her scapula and shoulder area. I then finished the Full Body Massage with the her lying supine (face up) massaging the legs feet arms hands and finishing with the neck and shoulders. When I was done with the massage I put her through some good stretching techniques (which she loved) and I knew from experience how the stretches would benefit her so this was a good thing.

Like I said I was determined to help her get rid of the pain she had accepted was going to be there forever yet I knew it didn't have to be. I told her what I wanted to do and we started a plan of sessions. My plan was to continue with the full body massage because everything in our body is connected in its own way and when one area isn't doing what its suppose to do another area steps in and helps but then it is doing more than its supposed to do and it becomes affected so another area becomes affected and so on and so on and now there is so many more areas that need attention. So I started her with full body massage sessions to relieve the tension and tightness so the body becomes relaxed and the healing process begins. Not only is the relaxed state of the body and mind healing,  massage brings blood to the area, the blood supplies water, oxygen, food and secretions and carries away carbon dioxide and waste products to be eliminated from the body, causing a healing process of its own. Repair takes place when infection- causing bacteria has been destroyed then the connective tissues cells send what is called fibroblasts to the area for the regenerating and rebuilding process of the area.

As I do the Full Body Massage I integrate other techniques that my client is comfortable with. Some Deep Tissue massage on the taut bands I find is beneficial only as long as the pain scale is ok for my client as I don't want to cause her to tighten up from to much pain as that would only hinder the process as we want to loosen the tightness not make it tighter. Everyone has different pain scales so it is important to be in good communication while doing any deep tissue. There is that good pain which is tolerable and actually feels good and then there's that pain that causes the body or muscle to tighten, which is not what we are aiming for. I also used some cross fiber friction strokes, Friction is specific circular or transverse movements, generally across the grain of fiber of the underlying tissues. It is not a sliding/gliding action like effleurage and is focused on a confined area. A variation called Cyriax Cross Fiber Friction is a very specific treatment technique frequently used to break up adhesion's and scar tissue. Using Myofascial Techniques to reduce fascial restrictions, Neuromuscular Therapy (NMT) techniques to address trigger points and pressure points, using NMT I can usually feel when a tight area or taut band releases

I continued doing Full Body Massage sessions with her and each time I could see improvement and she was telling me how much better she was doing for example before she wouldn't feel her scapula against the seat back when she was sitting and now she could actually feel it. She didn't feel the awkward hitch in her shoulder it was now feeling relaxed and more like it should feel and her posture was improving giving her a more balanced feeling when she stood.

There was one time during our sessions where circumstances led to missing a session and although she was feeling good and didn't feel she needed it so it was ok if she missed a session  within a few days after the missed session, yes that soon, the pain returned and we could see a difference where as the muscle memory caused the muscle to return to where it had been for so long. I was doing what I call retraining the muscles with massage and body works, to return to their natural position to where they should be not where the injury caused the position of the muscles to go and because they stayed that way for so long  muscle memory causes them to return to that position until the retraining process takes over and they stay where they actually should be and were meant to be for their function. Missing the session didn't really do any damage it just set us back  prolonged the outcome.

The whole process took about 10 months of massage & body work therapy to retrain the muscles and get the body to realign itself to its natural stance where she is now pain free, has a better more relaxed posture and her overall health and well being has improved. She now keeps up on what I call body maintenance by integrating massage into her life schedule. She can now choose what type of massage she wants and one of her favorites is the Hot Stone Massage. She continues to have regular massage at least once a month if not more !!

I would like to add how important it really is to stick to a plan your massage therapist may give you as sometimes it does take time for the healing process to work yet from experience I have seen it work well. I also feel and highly recommend doing the full body massage as it may seem to you like "oh I only need this part of my body done" and yes that is very beneficial for the area but having the full body massage I believe will speed up the process of healing any area as the body is made up of a whole lot of different parts that all work together.

This type of massage treatment works for other areas of the body, upper back, neck, arms, legs ect.

Massage For Tension Headaches

Are Tension Headaches Affecting Your Life?

We've all experienced that horrible headache, caused by stress and tension. They can stop us from being able to focus properly, can inhibit our performance at work, as well as stop any chance to relax. This in turn stops the body from being able to recharge the batteries, and the cycle continues. Seeking the assistance of a qualified, professional massage therapist just may be the answer!

A lot of people have heard the term “tension headache,” but may not exactly understand what it is. Basically, a tension headache is caused by stress, and exacerbated by dehydration. Pain seems to occur at the top, and/or sides of the head, and sometimes can also include pain behind the eyes, and stiff neck and shoulders. These can go on for days on end if steps aren't taken to fix the issue.

Blue Pacific Massage & Body Works is a professional massage therapy business, located in Hesperia, California. Owner/operator Terree Nelson, is highly qualified and experienced in a large variety of massage therapy methods, and techniques. Tension headaches often originate from a painful neck and shoulders. These are caused by stress, and even a bad posture, which can spread up to the muscles around the skull. Not many people are actually aware that there are muscles around the skull.

When we are experiencing this kind of headache, many people unknowingly add to it by clenching their jaw.  We can tend to do this in our sleep, without even realizing it.  This is also not good for the teeth. This tightens the muscles around the skull even further, resulting in constant headaches. So now we know what causes these headaches, how can Blue Pacific Massage & Body Works help?

Terree can effectively ease and soften the muscles around the sides of the head, temples, and where the neck meets the skull. Research has shown that chronic tension headaches can indeed be treated efficiently by a professional massage therapist.  An experienced massage therapist from Blue Pacific Massage & Body Works can also advise on exercises you can do yourself at home, or in the office, to help ease the muscle tension.
